Visiting the Dispensary
You must bring a valid, government-issued photo ID proving you are 21 years of age or older. Accepted forms include a state driver's license, state ID card, US passport, US military ID, or a valid passport from another country. The ID must not be expired. We check every customer, every time — no exceptions.
We are at 994 Atlantic Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11238, in the Prospect Heights / Crown Heights border area. We are one block from the Atlantic Ave-Barclays Center subway station (2/3/4/5 trains), two blocks from Clinton-Washington Aves (C train), and three blocks from Seventh Ave (B/Q trains).
Yes. Street parking is available on Atlantic Avenue and the surrounding side streets. Metered spots are available during business hours. We recommend checking signage for alternate side parking rules. There are also several paid parking garages within a few blocks.
No. Take N' Toke is a walk-in retail dispensary only. We do not offer delivery or online ordering. New York State adult-use cannabis regulations require in-person purchases with valid ID verification. We are happy to assist you when you visit.
We are open Sunday through Thursday from 9:00 AM to 10:00 PM, and Friday and Saturday from 9:00 AM to 11:00 PM. Last call is 15 minutes before close. Holiday hours may vary and are posted in advance on our homepage.
Cannabis is a cash-heavy industry due to federal banking regulations. We accept cash and debit cards. We do not accept credit cards. There is an ATM on-site for your convenience. Exact payment methods may change as banking regulations evolve.
We are set up to welcome first-time customers. When you walk in, a staff member will check your ID. Then you can browse or speak with a budtender who will ask about your experience level, what effects you're looking for, and any preferences or concerns. There is no pressure to buy anything specific, and we are happy to explain everything. The whole process usually takes 10 to 15 minutes.
Products
We carry flower (cannabis buds), pre-rolls (pre-made joints), edibles (gummies, chocolates, and infused products), vape cartridges and disposable pens, concentrates (distillate, live resin, rosin), and tinctures (sublingual drops). Our inventory rotates regularly as we bring in new products from licensed New York cultivators and processors.
Our pricing varies by product type, brand, and potency. We aim to offer quality products at fair prices across a range of budgets. Specific pricing will be available when you visit or when we publish our menu. We also run deals and promotions regularly — check our deals page for current offers.
Yes. Every product on our shelves has been tested by a New York Office of Cannabis Management (OCM) approved laboratory. Testing covers potency (THC and CBD percentages), terpene profiles, and contamination screening for pesticides, heavy metals, microbials, and residual solvents. Results are printed on every product label.
Every product label lists the THC and CBD percentages or milligram dosages. For flower and pre-rolls, potency is shown as a percentage of THC by weight. For edibles and tinctures, dosage is listed in milligrams per serving and per package. Our staff can help you understand what these numbers mean in practical terms.
Yes. We stock products with a range of THC-to-CBD ratios, including high-CBD, low-THC options. These are popular with customers who want the benefits of cannabis without a strong psychoactive effect. Ask a budtender to show you our CBD-forward selection.

Dosing & Effects
Start low and go slow. For smoking or vaping, take one small puff and wait 10 to 15 minutes before taking another. For edibles, start with 2.5 mg to 5 mg of THC and wait at least 2 hours before considering more. Our budtenders can recommend specific beginner-friendly products and walk you through what to expect.
Edibles typically take 30 minutes to 2 hours to produce noticeable effects, depending on your metabolism, what you have eaten, and the specific product. Some people feel effects sooner, others later. This is why we strongly recommend waiting at least 2 hours before taking a second dose. The most common mistake new users make is taking more too soon because they think the first dose is not working.
It depends on the method. Smoking and vaping effects typically peak within 15 to 30 minutes and last 1 to 3 hours. Edible effects can last 4 to 8 hours or longer, especially at higher doses. Tinctures taken sublingually usually fall somewhere in between. Individual factors like tolerance, metabolism, and body weight also play a role.
Traditionally, indica strains are associated with relaxing, body-heavy effects, while sativa strains are associated with uplifting, cerebral effects. Hybrids are a mix. In practice, the terpene profile and cannabinoid content matter more than the indica/sativa label. Our staff can help you find a product based on the experience you are looking for rather than relying solely on these categories.
Legal & Compliance
Yes. New York legalized adult-use cannabis through the Marijuana Regulation and Taxation Act (MRTA), signed into law in March 2021. Adults 21 and older can legally purchase cannabis from licensed dispensaries like Take N' Toke. Possession and use are subject to certain limits and location restrictions.
No. Driving under the influence of cannabis is illegal in New York and dangerous. Cannabis impairs reaction time, coordination, and judgment. If you consume cannabis, arrange alternative transportation. Use rideshare, public transit, or have a sober driver.
Under New York law, adults 21 and older may possess up to 3 ounces of cannabis flower or up to 24 grams of concentrated cannabis (such as vape cartridges or edibles) for personal use. These limits apply to what you carry on your person, not what you may store at home.
Yes. THC can remain detectable in your system for days to weeks depending on usage frequency, body fat, metabolism, and the sensitivity of the test. While New York law prohibits most employers from testing for cannabis, there are exceptions for certain safety-sensitive positions and federal jobs. If drug testing is a concern for you, discuss it with your employer and consider CBD-only products.
Licensed dispensaries in New York hold an Adult-Use Retail Dispensary (AURD) license issued by the Office of Cannabis Management (OCM). You can verify a dispensary's license on the OCM website. Licensed shops are required to sell only tested, tracked, and regulated products. Take N' Toke is a fully licensed NYS adult-use cannabis retailer.
