What are pre-rolls?
Pre-rolls are joints that come ready to smoke. Ground cannabis flower is packed into a rolling paper with a filter tip, sealed, and packaged in an airtight tube. They're produced by licensed processors using the same lab-tested flower sold on dispensary shelves.
For beginners, pre-rolls eliminate the learning curve of grinding and rolling. For regular consumers, they offer consistency and convenience. For social settings, they're the easiest format to share.
Effects mirror flower since that's what they are: rapid onset (1-5 minutes), 1-3 hour duration, and the full terpene and cannabinoid profile of the strain inside. Infused pre-rolls run hotter, hitting harder and lasting longer due to added concentrate.

What makes a good pre-roll.
Not all pre-rolls are created equal. Here is what separates a quality joint from a mediocre one.
Rolling Quality
A well-rolled joint is firm but not too tight, with an even density from tip to filter. It should feel solid when gently squeezed but not rock-hard. Loose rolls canoe and burn unevenly.
Flower Quality
The best pre-rolls use the same quality flower sold on the shelf, not shake or trim. Check the label: reputable brands specify whole-flower or note the source material. Ask our staff about what's inside.
Burn Characteristics
A quality pre-roll burns evenly with white or light gray ash. Dark ash, canoeing (one side burning faster), or frequent relighting suggests poor construction or improperly cured flower.
Potency Info
All pre-rolls carry lab-tested THC/CBD percentages on the label. Infused joints will show significantly higher THC. Always check the label before lighting, especially with infused products.
What it's wrapped in.
The rolling paper affects burn rate, flavor, and overall experience. Most pre-rolls at Take N' Toke use natural, unbleached papers.
Natural (Unbleached)
Standard rolling papers made from hemp, rice, or unbleached wood pulp. Thin, minimal flavor interference, and even burn. The most common and recommended option.
Hemp Wraps
Made from hemp fiber, offering a slightly thicker roll with a subtle earthy flavor. Burns slower than standard papers. A natural complement to cannabis flower.
Blunt Wraps
Thicker wraps made from tobacco leaf or tobacco-free alternatives. Slower burn, fuller body, and a distinctive experience. Tobacco-free options available for those who prefer to avoid nicotine entirely.

Pre-rolls are best consumed fresh. Proper storage preserves the flavor, burn quality, and potency of the flower inside.
